The sales periods for the 2014-2015 annual catalog, the 2015 occasions catalog, and the 2015-2016 annual catalog will overlap on June 2 in all markets. Please note the following about the transition day of June 2:

  • All carryover items from the 2014-2015 annual catalog and 2015 occasions catalog will keep their 2014-2015 prices on June 2, while brand-new items in the 2015-2016 annual catalog will follow the 2015-2016 printed price. Beginning 3 June, all 2015-2016 pricing will take effect.
  • Current host program benefits will remain in effect on June 2. Beginning June 3, all new host benefits (Stampin' Rewards) will take effect.
  • On June 2, hosts may choose host items from the 2014-2015 annual catalog, the 2015 occasions catalog, or the 2015-2016 annual catalog.
  • Beginning June 3, hosts will no longer be able to choose host items from the 2014-2015 annual catalog or the 2015 occasions catalog, and the new Stampin' Rewards program will begin.
  • On June 2, all Online Store categories will be replaced with new categories in support of the 2015-2016 annual catalog. The new categories will contain NEW and CARRYOVER items in the 2015-2016 annual catalog. All other items will be searchable and orderable, but not categorized. The Retiring Products category and any remaining available items will be active through June 2.

Sprinkles of Life intro and how to use punches to create a border

Today's card features a new stamp set and patterned paper as well as a fun little decorative border created using a paper punch. This is a great way to bring additional use to punches!

The cupcake is just one of the great images you can create using our new Sprinkles of Life stamp set. This stamp set is our featured Ronald McDonald House Charities set in the 2015-16 Annual Catalog. Each year, Stampin' Up! releases a set to support this cause and donates $3 from each stamp set sold. To date, the company has been able to donate over one million dollars to RMHC!

Other sneak peek items on this card:
Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper stack (including a few new In-colors!)
Cherry on top Washi tape (shown beside the card)
Tree Builder punch (used to punch out top of cupcake, which can also be used as a cloud)
Watermelon Wonder ink (candle)

In case you are wondering, here's how to create a decorative border strip using scrap paper and our Decorative Label punch. Turn the punch over (bottom side up) so that you can see what you are punching. Line up your paper and punch out a few labels; I only punched out half of the shape:

Next, slightly overlap your punched out pieces and adhere the label pieces to each other. I chose to overlap the little curved ends; play with it and see what design appeals to you!

Next, line up and adhere the card layer for which you are creating this border:

Trim off the overhang and you are done :)

And here's the finished card again so you can see it all together :) Special thanks to my son who was willing take some pictures and to Retro Sketches for another fun card sketch!

Stampin' Up! Perfect Blend retiring stamp set 2015

Say goodbye to coffee?! Not likely... But it's time to say adios to this coffee-inspired stamp set: Perfect Blend.

*Note: Tomorrow is the last day that Stampin' Up! will be producing stamps and stamp sets on this year's "retiring" list. If you haven't already done so, it's time to take care of that wish list!

For my locals - please note that June 5th is when we will meet for our new catalog launch and BOGO sale. Any of my retired items not chosen that evening will join my older retired items for sale on eBay. You can find me there under the seller name of adri_beni.

Stampin' Up! Petite Pairs and making the most of your time

Does your craft time come in little bits of time? Or do you find you can sit for hours? It's hit or miss for me; sometimes I can squeeze in a half hour and at other times I get a few hours to play. Recently I was stamping with some of my favorite ladies and spent the time stamping and coloring images that my friend Adela had brought with her. Although I didn't make cards that day, I now have a stash of images set aside for when I only have a few minutes to create a card.

So that's the background on how this card came together. I  wanted to work on a splitcoaststampers sketch challenge but only had about 25 minutes before my taxi-mom role would kick in. Having the image ready and some fun paper to use came in handy!  (Flashback Designer Series Paper)

  • The white ribbon is from a past My Paper Pumpkin kit. The Daffodil Delight Seam Binding is a retired item. For a look at other color options, click here to visit my store. Although we are keeping some colors, more are retiring so you'll want to get them while you can.
  • The sentiment "so many smiles..." is from Petite Pairs, a set that is available now and carrying over to the 2015-2016 Catalog. There is a coordinating finish for the inside of the card that reads, "...begin with you". The tag was created using our Large oval punch and a handheld punch (stolen borrowed from my husband's desk).
  • You know me, I couldn't resist the bling. I put one small one at the knot in her scarf and scattered three above the sentiment just for a little extra somethin'-somethin'.

Video - Watercoloring with Aqua Blenders and ink pads

I noticed some questions about the video on the Stampin' Up! YouTube channel; I hope this answers any questions you may have:
  • Although the supply list isn't provided, it is likely she used watercolor paper for this technique.
  • Leaving white space is a great way to give the illusion of light and highlights.
  • In the video, you will notice that she colored some areas in the cherries first when the brush held the most color, then went back and added color to the rest of the cherries when there was less color on the brush. This achieves the lighter/darker tones you would see due to lighting and positioning. Additional color added after the first has had a chance to dry allows you to add even more color to an image.
  • The light gray marker (likely Smoky Slate) was simply added to the shaded area as indicated by the stamped image and along the very edge of the bowl. Adding it to the outside of the bowl helps to visually detach the bowl from the background. (Necessary since the bowl was left uncolored with the exception of the shadows and colored strip.)
Have a great weekend!
