Quatrefancy Perfectly Penned

This great little sketch from Mojo Monday inspired me to pull out some colorful paper and make a "happy" card. The sentiment Celebrate Today (Perfectly Penned) could be for just about anything, couldn't it?

A little tip: see the Rhinestone on the butterfly and the Candy Dots above it? Not only do they embellish and add some fun to the card, they're also hiding the glue dot holding the clear overlay (with the white mosaic design) in place. Sneaky, I know ;)

Layout: Mojo Monday
Stamps: Perfectly Penned
Colors: Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, So Saffron, Whisper White
Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper
Tools: Big Shot, Framelits - Apothecary Accents, Elegant Butterfly punch, Bitty Butterfly Punches (see promo below!)

Halloween Hello RS81

Just a quick card based on the latest sketch at Retro Sketches. Enjoy!

As I write this post, my husband and boys are trying to convince me to go to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. Yeah, right. That is so not going to happen. You guys can have the spooky, zombie stuff. I'm perfectly fine here at home... with the candy.

Stamps: Halloween Hello

Tools: Paper Snips, Corner Rounder punch
Extras: Essentials Hardware Clips, Candy Dots - Brights

Designer Series Paper is also retired (sorry, don't remember the name)

Unscripted Sketches 222 Alan's Sixth Grade Scrapbook

Our challenge this week at Unscripted Sketches is up! For inspiration, visit the US site; our Design Team has posted several samples including cards and scrapbook pages.

Believe it or not, I used the sketch as the basis for a scrapbook page. (Not a card? Shocker - I know!)  This page began in My Digital Studio where I created the background and flag banner on an 8-1/2" x 11" page using the sketch. But I scrapbook 12"x12" so this was just the beginning of a hybrid page...

Once printed out, I layered it over additional card stock to create the desired 12" x 12" layout. I added some e-cut details, brads and a stamped/fussy cut scroll (from Happy Day) on what will be the journaling block. The pictures show my son and his sixth grade teacher, Mr Caufield, a truly gifted teacher who also runs the Drama Club at school. I can't tell you what a blessing this man and his efforts were to my son last year. Somehow I'll have to figure out how to word it and get it onto that journaling block, though I doubt my son will ever forget.

Stamps: Happy Day
Colors: Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Tools: Paper Snips, Silhouette Cameo (non-SU!)
Extras: My Digital Studio

Positively Chevron Summer Silhouettes

This sketch from Mojo Monday looks like good simple fun, eh? How about a fun, simple card to go with it?

My first instinct was to run to my paper stash, but instead I turned to my new (to me) Positively Chevron background stamp and a fun color combo on the Color Coach. I wouldn't say Summer Starfruit is one of my favorite colors, but I do like how it looks here! Hope you do, too :)

Note: The background was stamped with Smoky Slate. I was afraid it would be too light for this sentiment (because of the thin font), so I used Basic Gray instead. I'm thinking maybe I should have used Basic Black…

Stamps: Positively Chevron, Summer Silhouettes, A Dozen Thoughts
Colors: Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petals, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray
Tools: Paper Snips
Extras: Jewels Basic Rhinestones

Blessings from Heaven

The latest sketch from Retro Sketches came out this weekend. Feeling a little homesick and missing my family in Georgia, I called for the family update. Mom reports that the temps are cooling off and you can see some color in the trees now. (I'm a little jealous… )  She also reported that a family member is going through a rough patch right now. So with them in my heart, the sketch became:

Stampin' Addicts Pinterest Challenge #4

Happy Monday, all! A few weeks ago, a few of us at Stampin' Addicts decided to start a new set of boards at Pinterest sharing the various challenges we have on file on the forum. Each week, we're posting a challenge and the winner of that challenge gets to choose the next one. Well, apparently I won the last one so that means I get to choose this week's challenge! Yay me!

I chose this scrapbook sketch. I created a page using it, but I believe the layout would also work beautifully for a card, altered book or even home decor piece. I do hope you'll give it a try. And if you do, post in in our forum and Pin It to the challenge board. Maybe you'll win and you can choose the next challenge!

This page shows my maternal grandmother. She is the epitome of femininity, so I think she will really like pattern of the Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper as well as the the lace, flowers and pearls.

Although you can click on each pic to enlarge it, here's a little close-up of the photo/embellishment area of the page:

Stamps: Backyard Basics
Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper
Colors: Very Vanilla, Crisp Cantaloupe, Baked Brown Sugar
Tools: Big Shot, Framelits - Backyard Basics and Chalk Talk
Extras: Jewels Basic Pearls (Regular set and Large), Paper Doilies

Stampin' Up! Yippee Skippee!

One of my favorite stamps in our annual catalog is the sentiment used here. It's from Yippee Skippee! and it just makes me smile every time. It thought it went well with these ladies; they just look like they'd tell ya what they're really thinking!

Stamps: Yippee Skippee!, image (says Emerson?)
Colors: Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Early Espresso
Specialty Papers: Venetian Romance DSP, Champagne Glimmer Paper
Tools: Big Shot, Framelits - Chalk Talk, 2 1/2" circle punch
Extras: Metallic Brads (retired)

Sweater Weather Quick Get Well Card

Check out this fun, fall color combo. It's a color challenge provided by Connie and Mary and is just what I needed to help create a fall-ish card when it is still 94 degrees out!

Lately, most of my cards have been multi-layered time consuming creations. By combining the color combo with an easy sketch, this card came together quickly - what you need sometimes when your "get well" stash of cards is empty! To save even more time, I turned to our Sweater Weather DSP which contains two of the challenge colors and simply added the third color in the embellishments. I hope you like this quick card!

Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper
Stamps: Postage Collection (Hostess 2013-14), Sassy Salutations
Colors: CCMC266 - Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango, Naturals Vanilla
Tools: 3/4" circle punch
Extras: Candy Dots (Regals), Linen Thread

New "Best of…" stamp set - Autumn!

A Dozen Thoughts in Early Espresso

Today's card is a quick one that came together using last week's sketch challenge at Splitcoaststampers. Two of the three strips on the left are scraps of our Natural Composition paper sponged with Early Espresso ink. Because this paper has clear embossed designs on it, the ink makes the designs more visible but still retains the natural color behind the pattern. The third strip is a piece of Core'dinations card stock, dry embossed and sanded for texture.

The tag underneath the sentiment is a die cut from our Chalk Talk set of Framelits. The tag is actually a little larger when you cut it. I altered it by cutting it, removing a portion, then reassembling. The Linen Thread hides the join. Slick, huh? ;)

Layout: Splitcoast Sketch #451 (SC451)
Stamps: A Dozen Thoughts
Core'dinations Card stock, Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper
Colors: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
Tools: Big Shot, Framelits - Chalk Talk, Square Lattice TIEF, Small Oval punch
Extras: Linen Thread, Designer Naturals Buttons

Stampin' Up! Warmth & Wonder Hostess Set

Yes, I understand we're just getting into the fall season… However, I ran across a fun sketch at Cas(e) This Sketch and for some reason I immediately thought of the strips of Winter Frost DSP waiting in my stash. Can't leave that paper feeling neglected ya know...

This card also features my favorite item from this Holiday Catalog - Frosted Finishes Embellishments. They're so sparkly and pretty. Aside from the sparkle, you might also like that this card comes together quickly - always a bonus during the busy holiday season!

Silver Glimmer Paper, Winter Frost DSP Stack
