FMS73 Stampin' Up! Sketched Birthday Preview

At our Leadership seminar last month, Stampin' Up! surprised us with an all attendee giveaway: a new stamp set called Sketched Birthday. Somehow I missed when this set will be released, I hope soon. It's a great one for the most commonly made card - birthdays! The following card shares 2 of the 8 images in the set (the sentiment and birthday cake).

The color combo for this card comes compliments of Better Homes & Garden Magazine. In the February 2013 issue, they share several color combinations for your spring decorating. This fresh combo caught my eye; so fresh and fun - just right for a birthday celebration!

*Note: the sentiment could have easily been trimmed out using a coordinating die in our Apothecary Accents Framelit set. I chose to trim it by hand so that the pierced dots on the circle would show.

Sketch/color combo provided by: Freshly Made Sketches #73/BH&G page 36 of February 2013 issue

Product Supply details:
Stamps: Sketched Birthday

Everybunny and How to create tiny flower clusters

In class today, we are playing around with a coloring technique and also using our new Ovals Collection Framelits. This adorable image from Everybunny is the perfect fit for our project.

The stamped image contains tiny flowers in the lower left corner. We created tiny flowers of our own to add some dimension to the card. It's an easy process and they really are a sweet touch, aren't they?

To create the little flower clusters:

  1. Punch small flowers using Itty Bitty Punch Pack
  2. Place flower on a Stampin' Pierce Mat (shown below)
  3. Using a Stylus, press into the center of the flower. This will cause the edges to curl up.
  4. Decorate the center of the flower with a Pearl or Rhinestone
  5. Adhere to your card with a tiny dot of Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive.

Although I used it to create the flowers, this mat is intended to protect work surfaces as you paper-pierce. It will also help you to get even pressure and ink coverage with detailed or background stamps. Measures 6 1/2" x 9 1/2". U197 Champagne Glimmer Paper

Love this new sketch from Unscripted Sketches! It's designed perfectly for a quick card, so why not have fun and use some great paper or embellishments to jazz it up?

This fabulous Glimmer Paper makes it easy to put a stunning card together quickly. There is simply one strip going across the card, over which is layered a die cut frame. The loopy circle, from Circle Circus was then stamped in More Mustard (the same color as the card base) and then punched out. A simple gold brad decorates the center.

The card still has room for a sentiment, likely it will ship as-is. It would be just my luck to stamp a crooked sentiment on it….

Product Supply details:
Stamps: Circle Circus
Colors: More Mustard, Champagne Glimmer (Yes, it's still available!)
Tools: Big Shot, Apothecary Accents dies (#127003), 1 1/4" circle punch
Embellishments: Metallics brads
