Mini Tote Tutorial

I've had a couple of requests for more information on the mini-tote shared during the Stampin' Addicts blog hop. It's my pleasure to share this quick and easy treat with you. Sized perfectly for a variety of goodies, it's a great gift holder for anyone you want to bless and also works well on a desktop! You'll love how easy it is to make!

Materials:
Big Shot
Box #2 Bigz XL Die
12x12 card stock, cut to (2) 6"x12"

STEP 1:
Die-cut 2 boxes using the Big Shot and the Box #2 Die.

Note:  This Bigz die will cut the shape of your box and create score lines for your folds at the same time. Even though the machine can handle it, DO NOT place both pieces of paper on the plate (to cut them at the same time). Doing so will cause the machine to press too firmly on the score lines and may cause them to cut through in some areas.

STEP 2:

Press all of the folds with a bone folder and assemble your boxes. Leave the box lid (the flap) open. (In the photo they are standing straight up.) Place adhesive on the back of the box portion as well as along the edges of the flap. Place the boxes back-to-back and adhere.

STEP 3:
Using a small oval punch, punch through the top flap to create a handle.

Your box is now ready to decorate! Consider using remnants from the die cut paper to create a belly band around your box (as on the samples above) or use ribbon instead. Aside from being decorative, this will also help to strengthen the sides of the tote.

Now, as helpful as this will be for future gift-giving consider making one for yourself, as well. Crafters will find them handy for small things you use on a regular basis.

For example: here's one I keep on my work table to hold scraps of Whisper White, Very Vanilla and watercolor paper. Having these handy helps to keep from cutting into a fresh sheet when I simply need to stamp a sentiment or small image. It's also a handy place to keep half sheets of Stampin' Dimensionals, another high-use item.

I hope that you find this tote useful. If there's something else you would like to see, let me know and I'll do my best to share it here. Thanks for stopping by!
