A Patriotic DivaSC85

Happy Saturday! Today's Utah Divas sketch and the upcoming Memorial Day holiday inspired me to make a patriotic card. The additional challenge of using brads really worked for this project and I hope you like it!

"Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue!"
  • What more to say than "Thank You" for those who unselfishly have given their lives for our country? Commemorating them is what this holiday is really about.
  • 4 sizes of stars come on the Stars #2 die; I used 2 of the smaller ones for the main focal point.
  • For a tone-on-tone effect, I inked an empty jumbo cartridge with VersaMark and rolled stars onto the Brilliant Blue cardstock.
  • Stampin' Dimensionals are a must have. I don't know how many I go through a month! Here they help the stars pop off the page and also help with the white layer containing the brads. They give just enough lift so that those corners don't look bulky and messy.
Now it's time continue on and see what our next Diva has in store for you. -->click here<-- to be directed to Alisa's blog. (note: The link goes white when you hover over it. I apologize and aim to learn how to change the code of my template so that this doesn't happen anymore. If you click, you will be taken to her blog.)

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Jumbo Wheel: Classic Stars

Paper: Brilliant Blue*, Real Red, Whisper White

Vintage Vogue Easel

Still having fun playing with the easel card! Love how easy it is to make such a fun card and, of course, using Vintage Vogue just makes it easy to decorate :)
Thanks for stopping by! Starting tomorrow, I'll be sharing a variety of cards recently recived through a card swap. So many great cards to share with you!

Digital Downloads - new punches!

Here's the latest batch of digital downloads available for My Digital Studio. These files will also work in other digitial paper-crafting programs used on both PC and MAC systems. (They are .png files).

I apologize that the first two pictures are photos of our actual punches. Although we were given the item number for these two, I was not able to find digital photos of the shapes. (But it should give you an idea of what these punches do....)

122138 Ticket Corner Punch $.99

122139 Boho Blossoms Punch $.99

122140 Cog Punch $.99
122141 Itty Bitty Shapes Punch $.99

Pedaling Past

These are just some quick tags made using remnants from last week's easel card class. You'll be seeing more of the textured piece, and the folder that created it, soon. It looks like raised crosses on the front, but if you turn it over, it looks like square chain links! Very cool!

Thanks for stopping by!

DivaSC84 See the birdie

Saturday and time for another sketch with Utah Divas International.
When we first saw the sketch, many of the design team members remarked that it reminded them of Mickey Mouse! It could certainly be him (or Minnie!) but I imagine that it would also be fun to replace the circles with large flowers or perhaps some butterflies. It will be fun to skip through the other blogs (next link below) and see what everyone came up with!

For me, I thought it would be fun to use one of the new digital downloads released this week for My Digital Studio. Check this out:

The patterned paper you see here is from our new Geometric Lines Designer Series Paper, just released this week. I'm hoping we get this paper "in-real life" in the next catalog; if not, I suppose I'll be printing it out using my computer!
The bird is from our stamp set Friends 24-7 which came with the program. I was able to change the size of the image to fit the large circle (something I would not have been able to do with a stamped image). After that, it was just a matter of playing around with embellisments to get the look I wanted. Tough work but somebody's gotta do it...lol
Thank you for stopping by! Next stop on the hop: Alisa Tilsner - Enjoy!

Pedaling Past

Our stamp class today will be working on Easel cards today. This is my sample to share with the class; I just received the new Pedaling Past stamp set and couldn't resist using it right away! Some notes about this card:
  • The card base is made using the Easel card technique here. Very easy and such a fun way to share a card!
  • I kept the colors very monochromatic this time. Here, the card base is Perfect Plum accented with Pale Plum (a retiring color) and a little bit of Elegant Eggplant. Whisper White serves as my neutral.
  • I only variated from these colors on the bicycle by coloring with Barely Banana and Sahara Sand Stampin' Write Markers. (My coloring skills seem to be on vacation, but YOU can try stamping the bicycle with StazOn and coloring in fun and exciting colors! *grin*)
  • The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes - an extremely versatile set of  stamps! It's punched out with our Large Oval Punch and layered over a die cut from our Sizzlits 4-pk Lots of Tags.
Thank you for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow with a fun card using the latest sketch from Utah Divas. See you then!

Decorate your tissue paper!

Here it is in the bag that inspired me to use the Stampin' Around Wheel :)
Couldn't match any better, could it?

Song of Spring

It's 90 outside but still technically spring (on the calendar, anyway). How about a nice spring time image today?
This bird from our stamp set Song of Spring looks a lot like an American Robin. I did some research on the internet and found some with a rust colored chest and grayish-black feathers and head. Perhaps there are others, but I loved these colors so I decided to give it a try.
Something to consider: The day that I played around with coloring I wasn't really in the mood to make cards. I just wanted to practice coloring and set the images aside when I was done. Today, I needed to make cards for my team's swap; these images were ready to go so all I had to do was create the rest of the card. A great time saver since I wouldn't have had time to color today.
Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Song of Spring, Teeny Tiny Messages
Ink: StazOn Black, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust Stampin' Write Marker, Basic Gray Stampin' Write Marker, Going Gray Stampin' Write Marker, Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker
Paper: Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper, Naturals Ivory, Crushed Curry Textured, Chocolate Chip Textured, Watercolor Paper
Tools/Other: 1 3/4" circle punch, Filigree Brads, Stampin' Sponges, Aqua Painter

Life giving you lemons? Make lemonade!

Last Month, I hae the priviledge of conducting a workshop for my firend and hostess Adela A. Below is the card we made that day for our Make & Take.  I had written this blog post and set it up to post on the day of the workshop. While checking through my blog posts, I noticed that this one still said "draft". Bummer. So here it is... late, but hopefully still inspiring for summer!
If you would like the opportunity to see how it's made, contact me right away and we'll set a date for your Friends Night Out.

Stamps: Tart & Tangy, Starring You
Ink: Gable Green, YoYo Yellow (These two colors are retiring in June, get 'em while you can!)
Paper: Green Galore, Whisper White, Card stock Vellum
Tools/Other: Stampin' Sponges, Straw, 1 1/4" circle punch, 2-way Glue Pen, Chunky Glitter

DivaSC83 Happy Birthday!

If you are coming from the Utah Divas site or from Carol's - make sure you go back and pester her - it's her birthday!

Happy Birthday, Carol!

The additional option (theme) for our sketch today is "cupcakes" so I guess she wanted to make sure we didn't forget ;) Kidding!

Some project notes:
  • The Designer Series Paper (Tall Tales) dictated our colors: Brilliant Blue*, Rose Red, Old Olive, So Saffron.
  • The main image is stamped with StazOn onto watercolor paper, allowing for watercoloring without blurry lines or pilled up card stock.
  • An Aqua Painter makes it easy to pick up ink from the lid of your ink pads and color in an image. This lovely tower of cupcakes is from Crazy for Cupcakes. That same set also includes one jumbo Sam's Warehouse sized cupcake. I was going for quantity....lol
  • Can't fit your sentiment under the image? Cut it apart and add it where-ever you want!
  • The grid lines on the Mat Pack were useful in helping to place the brads. I knew I couldn't eyeball this one!  The brads themselves are Brilliant Blue to match the card stock and printed paper; they are part of the Bold Brights collection of brads. See note below*

Ready to see more projects with this sketch? Your next stop on the blog hop is Alisa. Have fun and thanks for stopping by!

*Brilliant Blue is one of our retiring colors. Any item with this color (ink, paper, embellishments) will retire and are only available while supplies last.

Smooch Spritz Tips

Hi there! Happy Monday and welcome to a new month. With the start of May, we launch our Summer Mini Catalog including many new stamp sets, embellishments and tools. One of the new items is something called Smooch Spritz. It's a fun spray that adds shimmer and shine to your projects. We have it in 4 colors and many demonstrators have had fun adding this element to their projects.

There have been a few questions that have come up as we've tried out the new product. To help you get the best results with Smooch Spritz, please follow these suggestions:

•Before each use, shake vigorously until the particles are fully mixed. The sprayer can become clogged if particles get sucked up into the tube.

•Spray in the direction of the arrow on the nozzle top. For best results, spray six to ten inches from your project. For a heavier application of color, spray closer to the project.* see below

•The Smooch Spritz bottles are made of glass. When you demonstrate this product, place the bottles on a towel or cloth to prevent them from rolling and possibly breaking.

•If the ink dries outside of the nozzle, remove the nozzle and submerge it in a household cleaner (such as Windex or 409) for 20 minutes. Rinse, replace the nozzle, shake well, and spray.

* You might be wondering how you can spray from so far away and not make a mess of your work top. Stampin' Up! has come up with a way to keep mess to a minimum, it's the Color Catcher.

To view these items and the other great things we have in store for you this summer, click here to be directed to my Stampin' Up website where you can SHOP NOW and look through all of the items. I've also posted the Summer Mini in the right hand column. Just click on it and you'll be able to view the entire catalog in pdf form.
