Stampin' Up! Ink Refills background technique

Good morning,

This is a card that I made a while back and have not been able to mail to anyone. I just love it and love the technique used to make it, too. To create this look:

Just take a disposable plastic plate (one of the waxy kind...) and put drops of 3 different colors of ink. I used my ink refills for my SU! classic inks (perfect plum, green galore and blush blossom), then lightly spritzed the plate with water causing the ink to spread just a little bit. Then I pressed a paper coffee filter down onto the plate and let it absorb the ink. I let it dry a bit then stamped it with this collage image loaned by my stampin' friend Judy. After trimming, I mounted it onto plum and then black cardstock.

It's certainly a little different from other cards I've made, but I just love it! I hadn't thought about this technique in a while.... maybe on Tuesday when the kids are back in school I'll pull out my inks and give it another go! Hope you are inspired to try it, too!
