Creatively Yours not just for the back of cards

1.30.2016

I'm still a little obsessed with our new Cups & Kettles Framelits Dies. This time I used some retired paper, random embellishments and a stamp set usually reserved for the back of the card to create a thank you for a special customer.

The Petite Petals flower punch works nicely with button embellishments!
Creatively Yours is a set of 8 stamps that you can use to let your customers or recipients of handmade gifts know that your item was, indeed, handmade! I really like this "made just for you" as an element on the front of the card. Now why haven't I ever thought of that before? ;)

If you sell items with any Stampin' Up! images, you'll be happy to know that three of the stamps include the copyright logo needed to keep you legit.

Creatively Yours (available in wood or cling mount)

Thanks for joining me on my little escape today!

We have a very happy hostess

1.29.2016

A great big THANK YOU to a group of very special ladies who came together yesterday for Adela's birthday themed workshop. I appreciate the opportunity to be your demonstrator and truly appreciate your enthusiasm for the projects and your encouragement to keep stamping. And I can tell you that you almost made Adela cry with your generosity; she is one HAPPY hostess! :)

Stampin' Up! January Paper Pumpkin conversation hearts

1.28.2016

This month's Paper Pumpkin kit brings back some good memories! Remember conversation hearts and trying to find just the right one? Well, Stampin' Up! brought them to us in a nice large size - in paper, of course - ready to be decorated and filled with your sweetheart's favorite candy treat!

First, lets take a look at the kit. Each kit contains full instructions for projects you can make with the contents. This booklet contains instructions for making pouches and/or a decorative banner and of course you get all of the supplies as shown.

January 2016 Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin kit

I'll be making full-sized cards with a few of the hearts, but for now I created two pouches so my boys can give their sweeties treats. First is one created using the Watermelon Wonder hearts as the body of the pouch:

Watermelon Wonder heart pouch - ready for her favorite chocolate!

I love the sequin trim in this color! And the cute clothespins and baker's twine add such a nice touch :)

Next is one I stamped with a retired set called Dog-gone it. My younger son saw this on my shelf and asked that I use this image and sentiment. These hearts are a soft Mint Macaroon color. I added white sequins (not included in the kit) just because they remind me of bubbles!

He says she's a keeper!
And here's a quick card I made just playing around with the supplies and a card base of Thick White Card Stock. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw my initial "fail" of the stamped sentiment. Let's just say banners do a great job of covering up less-than-stellar stamping!

You Matter... and so do your supplies

1.24.2016

Hi everyone,
I don't know about you, but there are a couple of times during the year where I like to go through my stash of craft supplies and reorganize. When the weather is yuck outside or when I'm stumped creatively is a great time. Usually, I find things I will no longer use and am stumped with what to do with them. I'm far from unique; I've overheard conversations and read enough threads to know that there are many of us with loads of supplies that could use a new home. So, if you are ready and willing to donate some of your supplies, allow me to introduce you to a person with a great cause:

-*- From Christi Usher-*-

Hello Fellow Stamper's....

I know it's that time of year that many of you are purging your crafting supplies that you no longer need or want. So, I am offering up a win-win suggestion. "The You Matter Project".

As some of you already know I am the founder of "The You Matter" card project here in upstate NY that makes cards for abused women and children. In May of this year we will be entering into our 8th year of the project. It's been a long hard journey for me, but I am so elated that something so horrific in my life has turned into something so enriching to so many people!

Up until 2014 - 2015, I had made most of the cards myself and personally supplied the few supplies we had. Then in July of 2015, "The You Matter Project" was honored to be the featured group for SplitCoast Stampers Cards for a Cause. To our delight, we received a whopping 982 beautiful handmade cards from generous crafter's all over the world!!!

Because of this, the interest of those we help is ever increasing. All donations for the "You Matter Project" will be used for the storage of and/or making of cards by and for those who are helped by the project. I have a room specifically dedicated for items that people graciously donate for the "You Matter Project". Sometimes the items will be used in the form of group classes and sometimes they will simply be used by a single person or two who just needs a quite safe place to express their emotions through art.

Due to the limited financial situations of most of those that are helped by our project, and because of what we are trying to do with the project by empowering people, we do NOT charge anything to those who use the items. So, I am humbly asking all of you to PLEASE help us build our stash with your unwanted and extra items. I know that anything you could send to the project, no matter how small you think it is, would mean the world to those we serve.

Thank you for your consideration to Pay-It-Forward for a wonderful project!
For those of you wanting to send donations of cards, de-stash items, etc. to help "The you Matter Project", here is the address you can send them to:

Stampin' Up! Cups & Kettles Thinlit dies

1.23.2016

I've been a bit spoiled lately. My hubby has been traveling to England where his home office is located and on return, he has been bringing me teas to try as well as tins of biscuits. (Cookies, actually, but it's more fun to call them biscuits! ha!) I've found two teas that I love: a particular English breakfast from a shop near Piccadilly and a ginger-lemon blend from Harrods. How much do I love them? I've given up drinking coffee!!

If you are wondering what this has to do with stamping, I had already begun this love-fest with tea when the new Occasions Catalog was released. Lo and behold there are tea related products in here! Here's the whole bundle:

A Nice Cuppa Stamp set + Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies ($39 US)

I used the Cups & Kettle Framelits to create the following card for a swap. Now, I goofed and used some retired lace ribbon; but just so you know, we do offer a newer version in Tip Top Taupe which is the color used on the tag and sentiment.

Sentiment from Suite Sayings
Instead of stamping the tea cup design available in the stamp set, I cut them out of Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper. This neat set of paper offers a watercolor (or marble-looking?) design on each sheet of 12x12 paper. For more information regarding the colors of paper included, please click on the product image in the supply list below.

Now, I've made myself thirsty. Time for a cuppa! Thanks for joining me on my little escape today!

Stampin' Up! Birthday Bouquet Greeting cards by Angie

1.21.2016

A fun way to check out new products and get lots of project ideas is to particpate in swaps. It's also a good way to build your stash of cards so you are ready each time an occasion rolls by! Each quarter I look forward to a swap that I participate in along with other Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. For this swap we focused on items in the Occasions Catalog and, while we normally swap WOW cards, this time we went for cards that could be used in a class or workshop setting. (If you have ever considered signing up to be a Demonstrator, this is just one of the many ways you can get ideas and samples to use at your events!)

The following cards were created by North Carolina Demonstrator Angie Pegram. First is her any- occasion card showcasing three new items: Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper (the set shown above), our new Sunburst Thinlit and a sentiment from the Greatest Greetings stamp set.

Angie pulled Mint Macaroon and Blushing Bride from the DSP for her card stock colors

Greatest Greetings includes 15 rubber stamps. You can click on the image in the product list below for more information, but for a quick peek here's the whole set:

Wood mount #140703 ($33) or Cling Mount #140706 ($25) US Prices

Angie's second card showcases pinwheel design and the same DSP (patterned paper). The sentiment is from Rose Wonder while the cup stains in the background are from our Timeless Textures stamp set. (Click the link for a quick video tutorial.)

Please scroll down for a complete list of products used. Clicking on an image will take you to my store for more details and shopping. Thanks for joining me on my little escape today and be sure to check back or subscribe to future posts for additional ideas including more swap cards!
