Color Block Greeting Card is Sweet Stuff

3.11.2015

I've been in a clean and simple mood lately and today's card sticks with that particular theme. This card, made with simply color blocking in mind, is a great way to use your stash of card stock or other paper remnants. Easy to make, but hopefully fun for a little one who is celebrating their birthday!

Some notes:
  • The cupcake (little treat?) was stamped and colored in. Once dry, I used Crystal Effects for a bit of dimension on the "sprinkles" of the cake.
  • With the chosen colors, I figured this card might work for a little boy so I kept the style very simple. Aside from the dimension mentioned above, the only added embellishment is a bit of thick baker's twine. I added a few random knots and frayed the ends for a little bit of texture... and because it reminded me of those ropes we had to climb in gym... which seemed easier for the guys than the girls.
  • If this looks a little too simple for you, consider using 3 colors of Designer Series Paper that contain the same pattern. Another idea may be to use the same color, but different patterns - just try to keep them similar is size so it doesn't get too busy looking.

Have fun playing with paper!
