Stampin' Up! Ornamental Pine Wreath

Want to stamp a wreath but don't want to purchase a wreath stamp set? The following card, based on a sample in Pinterest, is one we created at Adela's workshop last week. We went with fall colors for this one, but you could easily adapt it to any season!

To create this look:

  • Punch out a circle of copy paper and adhere it to your card front layer using temporary (or light tack) adhesive.
  • We started by adding splatters of Daffodil Delight ink using one of the images in Gorgeous Grunge. (The look reminds me of wreaths with berry laden stems poking out of them.)
  • Next, stamp an image like this pinecone from Ornamental Pine around the circle, 6-8 times. This sample has 8.

To fill in the wreath, stamp additional pinecones with either another color or a lighter touch of the same color. For the latter, ink up your stamp with the same ink, but stamp off onto scrap paper before stamping on your wreath. This wreath uses only Chocolate Chip ink; the second picture below shows the "stamped off" pinecone.

Tip: Stamp only 6 pinecones in the first layer if you want to be able to see more of the lighter cones.

To finish, remove the copy paper circle ("mask") and complete your card by adding embellishments to your wreath. We only added a ribbon bow, but you could go to town with Candy Dots, Rhinestones, sequins, Dazzling Details… (Now is a good time to go raid that embellishment drawer!) A sentiment might be nice, too :)
