Unscripted Sketches 186 Pennants

11.24.2012

Here's the latest sketch from Unscripted Sketches. Will you play along with us?

I have babies on the brain this month. My sister-in-law is about to pop and we are eagerly anticipating the birth of another little boy. Lucas is already bouncing around a lot so I'm sure he's going to be all boy (just like his brother). Unfortunately, this card came out too girly for them, but it sure is fun to think about new life and oh-so-sweet babies!

MDS2 Text Shaping

11.20.2012

Last week, I ran across a video showing how to add text in punched shapes using My Digital Studio. Very cool and useful, but I am LOVING that you can also alter your text in another way. Check this one out!

FMS61 Woot Owl

11.18.2012

We're off this afternoon to celebrate the upcoming birth of our nephew Lucas. He'll be making his debut in December and we can't wait to meet him! The following card is one I made to go along with the super-soft baby blankets we're gifting. (Nothing like soft blankies… lol)  The layout was created using Freshly Made Sketches sketch #61.

The inside of the card reads, "That's bird talk for Welcome Baby." The owl, speech bubble and text within it are from retired sets (referenced below). The idea for the sentiment inside the card is from our current set Animal Talk which contains a image of a bird tweeting and a companion sentiment that says, "Bird talk for your sweet."Corny… I know… but I couldn't resist ;)

Product Supply details:
Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (125412)
Stamps: (both are retired sets) Crazy Cool, Animal Stories

Tools: 1 3/8" circle punch (119860), Corner rounder punch (retired)
Embellishments: Jewels Basic Rhinestone (119246), Basic Gray ribbon (retired)

Unscripted Sketches Be of Good Cheer

11.10.2012

Hooray! It's Saturday and time for another sketch challenge at Unscripted Sketches. Create a card, a scrapbook page or anything else your crafty heart concocts... Will you join us this week?

This cute little pocket started out as a 3" x 7" cut of our Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper. To create it, score long at 4" and fold into a pocket shape. Punch an oval into the front of the pocket. The curve will make it easier to pull your tag (or gift card) out of the pocket. Adhere just the very edges (left and right) to secure your pocket. The interior tag (shown below) measures 2-1/4" x 3-1/2".

Coordinating stamp and die (tree)*

Stampin' Up! Scentsational Season

11.07.2012

It's time to get to work with making Christmas cards. I have yet to figure out which design I'll use to make multiple cards. In the meantime, it's fun to play around with different sketch challenges and play around with design ideas. This card uses a sketch from Mojo Monday along with our Scensational Season stamp set and coordinating Holiday Collection Framelits.

I really wanted the ribbon to look like it was firmly tied around the candy; so, using a hobby knife I cut slits into the white card stock just to the outside of the candy cane. The ribbon slides into the slit and secures behind the panel. Stampin' Dimensionals  between the layers provide dimension (good name, huh?) and also allow room to adhere the ribbon. No bulky, bumpy layers here.

Stampin' Addicts MDS2 Blog Hop

11.02.2012

Hi Everyone! A few of us at Stampin' Addicts would like to share some of the new features included in My Digital Studio 2, so we've put together a tiny little blog hop. There are 40+ new features, so this is by no means a complete list of enhancements. But maybe we'll give you an idea or two of the great things you can do.

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite features, Mirror Text. My son Alan has wanted to design his own t-shirts for a while. With this tool, he was able to add text and a free image found on-line to create his design, which we were then able to print onto a plain t-shirt. In order for the text to look right on the shirt, we have to flip it to print it correctly on an Iron-On Transfer.

First let me show you what your computer screen will look like as you work in My Digital Studio:

We'll be using options found on the right side of the screen - the Design Center. Under the Text tab, add a text box then type in your text.  By highlighting the text you can easily adjust your font, size, alignment, etc. Look at the bottom two squares; the one on the left is the one we're looking for - Mirror.

Click on your text box (where you entered the text),
then click the MIRROR button and you get this:

Even though the toast won't look much different, it's good to know you can also mirror and adjust any images you import. Under the Photos tab, add your photo. Within the same Photos tab, click on Photo Effects and you will get the following dialog box with 12 different options. Notice the preview pane on the right allows you to see exactly what you'll get.

Last, we printed our design onto Avery Fabric Transfers and ironed the design onto a t-shirt following the directions on the packaging. I also ironed a smaller version onto a white cloth for him to use to dry his hands when he practices guitar. I imagine this will be a fun and easy way to personalize towels for the home, cloth gift bags and other seasonal gifts. Of course, you can also use the mirror option to create fun background pages and adjust elements for your paper projects, too!
