Unscripted Sketches 178 Patterned Party Balloons

9.29.2012

My little guy just had another birthday. I say "little" but he's twelve and nearly as tall as I am. So don't tell him I said little. I made a dude card for him, but while I was at it, I made this girly card based on this week's Unscripted Sketch challenge. The balloons remind me of birthday parties and everything fun.

In case you are wondering how the balloons came together:

  • Stamp the cluster of Balloons in So Saffron onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.
  • Then stamp the cluster three times using different coordinating colors. Fussy cut balloons from each of these three clusters. Yes, it will take a little while :)
  • Use the cluster stamped first as a guide for placement of the balloons.
  • Adhere the balloons into place; use Stampin' Dimensionals to make a few of the balloons float above the others and add extra balloons if desired.
  • The satin ribbon to hold the "strings" in place.

Unscripted Sketches 177 Trick not treat

9.22.2012

This Halloween, this cute little girl is going to focus on the trick, not the treat ;)

Enjoy this bit of fun created using this week's Unscripted Sketches sketch challenge.

New to stamping? Here are some Project Notes sharing how to create the main stamped image:

  1. Stamp the witch three times using Stazon: once onto Whisper White, again onto patterned paper, and finally onto a scrap of whisper white (just need the pumpkin this last time).
  2. Cut the card stock containing the first stamped image into the shape you want to use on the card. I used the largest Framelit in our Apothecary Accents set.
  3. Color the face, hair and socks of the little girl.
  4. Stamp frog image (from Animal Talk) with Old Olive onto Whisper White card stock. Trim including part of the "hopping trail". Set aside.
  5. Trim the dress and hat portion of the image from the patterned paper. Adhere to the witch on the die cut. (This technique is call Paper Piecing).
  6. Color the pumpkin (your third stamped image from step 1) and trim. Adhere over the dress layer using a Stampin' Dimensional.
  7. Adhere the frog in place allowing the cut end of the hopping trail to tuck under the pumpkin.
  8. Finish your card. The layout you see here is our Unscripted Sketches challenge this week.

US176 Animal Talk

9.15.2012

This week at Unscripted Sketches, our sketch has a special "piggyback" challenge. We are are encouraging you to actually send the card to someone or donate your card to an organization of your choice. (Some ideas are shared below.) I hope you will join us in this special endeavor.

Some ideas for sharing your card (straight from the Unscripted site).

USE the card you make. Send it to a friend for their birthday, cheer up a co-worker, say thanks to a neighbor for letting you borrow their hedge trimmer for 8 years (!), or send it to:

http://www.cardcupids.org/blog/ which gets them to children facing difficult challenges in their young lives regardless of their economic background.

Or how about an organization that sends cards to soldiers overseas. Here are two that send cards of encouragement, thanks, etc. to the soldiers
http://www.amillionthanks.org/send-lett ... et-started
http://www.redcross.org/support/get-inv ... for-heroes

or one the sends blank cards to soldiers so that they can send cards back home
http://cardsforsoldiers.blogspot.com/

This is by no means a complete list of organizations who would accept your cards. For example, my stampin' friend Elaine donates cards for Hospice. I encourage you to ask around, find a worthy cause and then share a "hug in an envelope" with them. C'mon - bring a smile to someone's face :)

US175 Blessings From Heaven

9.08.2012

The new sketch challenge has been posted at Unscripted Sketches. I already had a card created that is similar to the sketch so I'm cheating and showing you that one. It looks a whole lot better than the one I tried to create yesterday. At least our community does recycling...

"Heaven knows you're special. I know it, too!"

Unscripted Sketches 174 Aviary

9.01.2012

What's the word, bird? The word around here is the new sketch challenge at Unscripted posted this morning. I took a lot of liberty with the sketch, but had so much fun making this silly card. The owl has personality doesn't he? I know owls have eyes like this, but doesn't this one look shocked? Or maybe just "Hey, I'm talkin' to you!"

Hee hee, fun! Can't wait to get this one in the mail. :)
