Happy Saturday and welcome to another Utah Divas International Sketch Challenge. Last week, we began sharing links to the other Divas, hoping to make it easier for you to see everyone's creations. It worked out very well, so we are going to continue with this effort. After my blog, you'll skip all the way to Australia and Alisa's blog. Enjoy your trip ;)

Ok, here we go. For those of you who stopped by before 7:50 - I apologize for the missing project... don't know what happened, but here it is!

The sketch was nice because it just had a  circle and a line under where we were to use a rub-on - lots of room for interpretation! So I used:

• our Circle Scallop Bigz die to cut my card base out of Glorious Green card stock.
• the Paper Piercing tool and Mat Pack to add holes to each of the scallops; sorta like an eyelet border. 
• my circle element became a daisy cut using the Flower Daisies #2 die. (Hey, I had the machine out..... why not?)
• Stampin' Pastels and Sponge Daubers to add color to the flower and card base.
• A nice yellow button in the center.

Tea Time

 The Mojo Monday sketch got me started this morning on this cute little 3x3 card. I ended up flipping the sketch so that the 2nd patterned paper (in this case I used vellum) and the bow end up on the right side and towards the top of the card. Although my plan was to use this to hold a tea bag, my plan was a little flawed.... I recommend measuring the tea packet before you begin ;)

Happy Saturday! Time for a sketch challenge with Utah Divas International. This week, we are trying something new: instead of heading back to the main UDI blog to find all of the Diva links, each of us will be providing a link to the next Diva on the list. You'll be able to circle all the way through and see everyone's projects. I just tried it this morning and - let me tell you - it was a fast and easy way to see the amazing projects everyone is sharing this weekend. Take a look through - I believe you'll be lovin' the variety of cards you'll see, all based on the same sketch. And, here, I humbly present my card:

For my card today, I used some paper I decorated earlier this week. (Click here for that post.) I ended up flipping the sketch so that I could put my pieces together the way I wanted to. And one little thing I did a little differently - I used linen thread and some simple stitching to adhere my vellum layer to my card front. Aside from that it's a pretty basic card - basic so I can use if for most any occasion ;)

Guest Stamper - Ellen Pruett

Hi there! We're on card 4 of 5 from a recent swap with some of the demonstrators at Stampin' Addicts. The bold card below was created by Ellen Pruett. (Click here for her blog.)

I like her choice of bold colors for this card. They very much remind me of Mardi Gras, which falls in line with the Easter theme of this set. The shine of the ribbon adds a nice touch, too.
These beautiful flowers (Abundant Hope) were the first stamps that caught my eye when I received my copy of the Occasions Mini catalog. I haven't actually purchased the set (yet) so it was so nice to receive a card showcasing them. (That's one of the best parts of doing a swap - getting samples of stuff you don't have!)

Making your own decorative paper

 

Thought I'd play with my supplies today and make my own patterned paper.

This first sheet of Whisper White card stock was stamped with images from Vintage Vogue and our retired stamp set, Carte Postale. I didn't even stretch my brain to figure out which colors to use - I simply chose 3 of the blues from the Rich Regals color group. Since our color groups are designed to go together, I knew they would work! It needs a little filler, but I think I'll wait until I go to use it; at that time I can add sponging or little dabs of color as needed for the project.

On the next project, I started out by die cutting our Little Leaves sizzlit from a piece of card stock. I then used the piece that was left (the "negative") as a stencil and sponged in some Sage Shadow leaves.

 

 

 Of course it needed more work, so I added some stamped images from Dream Gardens and also used the die cut leaf and a sponge to add some yellow leaves.

 

The paper still looked too stark, so on this one I went ahead and added more color by spritzing color on with a Color spritzer and Stampin' Write markers. The picture doesn't do it justice, unfortunately, but here it is anyway!  :)

 

 I'll be attempting to make some projects with these once the boys are back in school, so be sure to check back!

An early Spring Song

It's not anywhere near spring yet, but I couldn't resist the cute little bird from our Spring Song stamp set.

 This card is a birthday card for a family friend. Mr. Bravo is the sweetest man and he is my grandmother's sweetheart :) He likes nature, so I thought he might like this bird image. "Pensando en ti" is spanish for "thinking of you"; I find this to be the best sentiment for cards because it can be used for any occasion. Including this about-to-be-late birthday card. (I'm so go about making the cards.... just not so good at sending them on time... how embarrassing!)

Tie ribbon a new way

I love ribbon and am always challenged to find new ways to use it. This time, my hubby had to help me... check it out:

 Yup - a tie! How fun! I wanted to use this paper from our Cottage Wall Designer Series paper; so I made a Newlywed card. The two Rhinestone Circle brads on the top right are supposed to resemble earrings.... I sure hope I'm not the only person who "gets" that.... lol
But the tie - it could be used for Father's Day, Graduation, Congrats (new job at work)... all kinds of manly things! So easy - and hopefully, so different! Hope you enjoy it!

Guest Stamper - Linda Pittman

Hi there! Today's post is number 3 of 5 cards I received from a card swap at Stampin' Addicts. This fun z-fold card is from Linda Pittman.

 This is such a pretty card. The image (from our Garden from the Heart stamp set) is so pretty and feminine. She sponged around the edges of all of the pieces which really softened them and gave such a nice "feel" to the card. The sponging also helped the dots on the embossed panel to stand out as well. And the little clip is just such a nice touch, isn't it?

Monday means Mojo!

Every Monday I look forward to the sketch posted at Mojo Monday. Today was no exception and I love the original sketch posted today. I would have never come up with this on my own!

I wish I had made last week - I went to a baby shower yesterday and I think this would have been just right for that occasion. Oh, well!
The paper I used (a retired set of Designer Series Paper) dictated my colors. I kept it simple and used  Bashful Blue and Old Olive card stock along with white embellishments. The flower is from a set of die cut flowers (do we even sell these anymore?) and of course the bird is from our new XL 2-step Bird punch. Seems like I'm not the only one who loves this punch; we're currently out of stock and awaiting news on when we'll get more!

A Kind Word For You

Our Occasions Mini catalog has a few sets of Designer Series Paper.  A simple layout and a sheet of flower strewn paper from the Sending Love Specialty set inspired me to make this card:

I love the colors of Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink together - don't they look sweet? I was able to echo the colors of the paper in the little girl's dress as well as with my embellishments making it very easy to put this card together. I think this is one that will appeal to the little girl in whomever  I decide to send it to.

Mojo Happiness

It's Monday! Yup, all day!
I managed to escape from house duties long enough to play with some paper, ink and felt along with the Mojo sketch challenge today.

Can you tell how badly I wanted to delay my return to laundry? I even took time to distress and sponge the edges of every layer :)
Just kidding, the vanilla paper looked a little boring to me - all straight and proper. I decided to muss it up a little bit so that it would blend from layer to layer a little better.  The picture doesn't show the sponging very well, but it's there on the edge of each layer and helps to soften the Very Vanilla layers (cardstock and Designer Series paper).
"Soft" became the theme for the card. Soft colors, soft embellishments and a soft, mellow overall feel. Soft, like the towels awaiting me in the laundry room..... lol. So, it's back to work for me.  I hope you like my card today. Thank you for stopping by on some of your own "escape" time :)
