Creative Sketches goes Manhattan

Today's challenge with Creative Sketches involves both a sketch and a technique!

Along with the sketch shown above, the challenge technique is dry embossing. I decided to cheat and let the Big Shot do the embossing for me along with a portion of our Manhattan Flower embossing folder.
This particular embossing folder coordinates with our Fifth Avenue stamp set. The large rose from this set was stamped onto the card base. Using the same color ink as card stock gave me a nice tone-on-tone image that doesn't overpower the Paper Vellum layered over it or draw attention away from the embossed flower.
For sparkle, I ran a Two-Way Glue pen over the raised lines of the embossed flower and sprinkled on a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds (our super-fine glitter).
Lines of pierced holes follow the sketch as drawn and add some subtle interest to the left edge of the vellum panel. Last, but not least, pearl accents on the top corners dress up the top of the card and also camouflage the glue dots holding the vellum in place. (The bottom of the vellum is secured under the embossed flower.)
Well, that's it for me! To see more creations based on today's challenge, CLICK HERE to be directed to the Creative Sketches site. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. The vellum is the perfect touch for this card -- it reminds me of Elizabeth's wedding dress in Parent Trap (maybe someone else can relate). Love it!
